About The Course
INCEPTION
The Department of Mathematics was instituted in 1996 . The Course B.Sc. Mathematics is being offered since 2004.
OBJECTIVE
- The objective of the department is to provide strong mathematical foundation, analytical and computational skills and abstract understanding to the under graduate students which will enable them to handle any industrial and research problems
- To conduct conferences and workshops so as to provide forums for sharing knowledge and enrich students with such experiences.

CERTIFICATE COURSE
- The Department offers a 20-hours course on Math tricks for Aptitude for second year students.
SEMINAR / CONFERENCE
- The department organized an National conference on “Advances in Mathematical and Applied Sciences” on 27th September 2019, Dr.R.Ravanan, Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Chennai Region delivered a special address. Dr.S.R. Kannan, Professor, Department of Mathematics Ramanujan School of Mathematical Sciences Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry delivered the inaugural address.
GUEST LECTURE
- Dr.Shalu M A, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, IIITDM, Kancheepuram, delivered a lecture on the topic “CD- Coloring”.
- Dr. M. Chrisphin Karthik, Scientist " C ", Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, Bengaluru delivered a lecture on “A Brief History of Astronomical Research”
DEPARTMENT MAGAZINE
As part of the association activity, the department released its in-house journal “MATH STORM”
ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY- SIGMA 2019-2020
- The Department organized an Intra departmental competitions such as Crossword Puzzle, Poster Presentation, Aptitude, speech and dumb charades which helps test their skills and knowledge.
INTER DEPARTMENT COMPETITION IN COLLABORATION WITH PLACEMENT CELL
In collaboration with Placement Cell, we conducted inter-departmental activities like “As you like it” and “Logo Design” and the prizes were distributed by Ms.Rajyashri Iraianbu, Director, Placement & Training.
INTERNSHIP
- As a part of curriculum, the students of final year undergo internship programme and submit the project report as enrichment for academics.
- Department encourages the students to do internship in various schools during the fifth semester.
- This programme provides them a golden opportunity to understand the application of the subject and the value of a teachers’ role in the life of students
