INCEPTION

The Department of English was established on 28th August 1996. Since its inception the Department has played an important role in nurturing the talents of the students. The PG degree (M.A. English) has been offered since 2015.

OBJECTIVE

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY AND LANGUAGE LAB

  • A large collection of books is available in the library for the students and faculty.
  • The department uses many educational tools for the benefit of students. One such is the Language Lab which has 30 computers with required software

SEMINARS, CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS

  • A National webinar on “Contemporary Trends in English Literature” was organized on 12-01-2023. The inaugural Address was given by Dr.Swarna Latha,Assistant Professor & Head PostGraduate and Research Department of English,Vellalar college for Women,Erode. The Keynote Address was given by Dr. V.Smitha Narayanan, Professor, Department of English,Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women,Chennai. The resource persons were Dr. Laly Mathew, Former Principal, Bharata Matha College of Commerce & Arts, Choondy and Dr.Ms.Gayathri, Assistant Professor, Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women,Chennai
  • National Workshop on “Relevance of English in Business Correspondence” was held on 05-01-2023. The resource person was Dr. Sumathi Shivakumar, Assistant Professor,A.M.Jain College,Chennai.

GUEST LECTURES

A guest lecture on “Learning Language Through Literature” was organized on 06-09-2022. The resource person was Dr.K.N Shoba, Associate Professor,Department of Education, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research Ministry of Education,Government of India ,Chennai.

1.Yamini of II MA participated in the Youthtalk competition organised by the ICT Academy on the 27th of September2022 and won first prize.
